A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Big Spirit Youth Theatre production

By William Shakespeare

As part of the appeal for the new Youth Wing, Big Spirit Youth Theatre present a summer show this season!

A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare's happiest and most popular plays and almost a staple diet of the English summer. In this 25th year of celebrations for the Queen Mother Theatre, Hertfordshire's premier youth theatre present their own very special version of this much-loved idyll. It will be full of the characteristic energy, physicality and verve that mark out all Big Spirit shows and will take place in the gardens of a lovely big house in the country. Buy a ticket, bring a picnic, drink some red wine and enjoy!

This open-air production is being staged in the grounds of The Bury, Church Road, Barton-le-Clay by kind permission of David and Helen Balfe.

Barton is on the B655 about 6 miles from Hitchin, close to the A6 and about 2 miles from the M1 junction 12. Approaching from Hitchin, Church Road is the first turning left after reaching the Barton sign. From the other direction it's the first turning right after the village hall. For online mapping site users the postcode is MK45 4LA (or view the Google Map).

Please bring something to sit on - garden chairs, rugs or the like. Some people bring a picnic hamper. Toilet facilities are in the Church Hall adjacent to the venue. On Friday and Saturday, light refreshments will be served in the Church Hall during the interval.

Cars can't park on the main road nor in Church Road. There are 30 spaces at the venue (but not on Thursday) and 70 at the Arnold Middle School which is a few minutes walk from the venue. The school is opposite the Barton sign approaching from Hitchin. When the nearest car park is full, cars will be directed to the school. Please try to share a car. Beyond the venue towards the A6 is the Village Hall but its large car park may only be available to users of the Hall.
