Gypsy
Gypsy is a prime candidate for the greatest musical of all time! A brilliant score by Jules Styne and superlative lyrics by Stephen Sondheim makes this American musical a must for an enjoyable evening's entertainment.
Based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee the show centres around the tenacious Mama Rose, who wants to put her daughter Baby June on the stage. Recruiting an agent she sets up an act to tour the Vaudeville circuits. Ultimately bored of the same old act Baby June runs away, leaving Mama with her awkward eldest daughter, Louise. Not to be defeated, Mama creates a new act, "Louise and the Hollywood Blondes." But Vaudeville is dying and the girls end up playing a Burlesque theatre. One night the 'star' is absent and, pushed by Mama, Louise embarks on her new career - as a stripper!
Packed with fabulous songs such as 'Everything's Coming Up Roses', 'Let me Entertain You' and 'Together, Wherever We Go' Gypsy is a rarely performed musical gem. Book your tickets now for this wonderful show!
