The Gondoliers

Putteridgebury G&S Society

Wednesday 21st to Saturday 24th March 2018, in the Main Theatre

by W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan

When two Venetian Gondoliers are told that one of them is the King of Barataria they leave their newly married wives to find out who it is. Chaos ensues when they meet Casilda, who one of them married when a baby, meaning 3 wives instead of two.

Throw in the Spanish Inquisition, a skint Duke and Duchess, and a secret pair of lovers and confusion reigns supreme.

With one of the longest musical opening numbers in theatre history, memorable tunes such as “A Pair of Sparkling eyes” and “When a Merry Maiden Marries”, as well as a host of dances including the Spanish Cachuca, “The Gondoliers” is full of entertainment for all the family.
