Big Spirit News
It is a rare thing to hear a member of Big Spirit not being involved with a production, and it is no different for the time being! As always the group are well under way with our next production of A Midsummer Night's Dream which shall be performed at the Balfe's House in July. I personally have never been involved with an outside performance and am extremely excited to give it a try. I am sure many of the newer members of the group will gain major confidence boosts from this opportunity, for performing outside pulls out the loudest and biggest performances of all.
A selected few from the group are also travelling up to the Edinburgh festival again this year and have recently heard the news that they are to be performing the widely renowned comedy Teechers. Being a much smaller group travelling up this time round I feel it will be an immensely enjoyable experience, and will give everyone the chance to bond a little more.
Rory has always had a great reputation for being able to train his students to the standard that a drama school would require. And this is indeed true, for in this year alone we have had over 4 successful members (ex and present) receive a place in drama schools such as East 15 and Central.
Finally a piece from me personally, being a member of Big Spirit is not only a privilege, but it is a great honour. People these days seem to think of a rather amateur not very serious group of youths when the words 'Youth Theatre' are mentioned, I am glad to say that Big Spirit does not (and I'm sure will not) ever represent that. It is a group that holds constant high standards and brings out performances worthy of a professional title. I am proud to say I am a member of the Big Spirit Youth Theatre and am sure greater things are still to come in the near future.
