Bits and Pieces

Grand Clearance Sale!

Sorting out the workshop throws up tools that are surplus to requirements. One is a band saw which we bought some years ago because it seemed like a good idea but never got used. We also have two workmates (folding workbenches), two jigsaws (when you get a Bosch, all others are surplus) and an electric paint spray gun. If you can use any of these please remove them from the workshop - they're just inside the door. The Flymo mower is still in the paint store if anyone wants it as are two fire extinguishers.

Going Green
(or trying to)

We generate quite a lot of waste at the theatre which just goes to landfill but things are improving. We have a glass collection service for the bar which is one of the best investments we ever made. Wood waste from the workshop is recycled in somebody's fireplace during the winter. We get lots of plastic bottles as many people bring bottled water into the theatre during rehearsals. Please think before just throwing your waste into one of the trash bins in the theatre and put plastic bottles, cans and glass in the green bin in the kitchen whence they go to the recycling bins. In the bar store there's a black bin for plastic bottles. We can all do a little bit to improve the environment so think before you chuck.

First Aid

We occasionally have small accidents in the theatre which require sticking plaster. The First Aid boxes around the theatre do not contain plasters because of the risk of legal proceedings against the supplier by someone who is allergic to them. You may find that incredible to believe, as I did, but sadly that's the case. As Carole Humphreys observed "just watch them bleed to death as you explain the policy to them". A supply of plasters in a very handy dispenser is now fitted on the inside of the switch room door in the foyer. Be assured that if you give one of these to a member of the public who subsequently sues the Bancroft Players, you will not be held personally liable! I haven't confirmed that with the Executive Committee but I'm pretty sure they'll agree.
