David Moore
David Moore has died peacefully at home at the age of 75 after along battle against cancer.
Although not a member of the Bancroft Players, he was a good friend and ally of the Queen Mother Theatre. He was at one time chief architect of Hunting Gate Ltd one of the three main contributors to the building of the QMT, but in 1983 had set up his own architectural and building company called Highacre. I had known David for some time through our membership of the Thespians and when approached to enlist his help, he readily took on the design and provision of the flexible stage which was then required.
He took a keen interest in the Theatre and with his wife Monica attended shows regularly. His main interest was music. He was a chorister and an instrumentalist, and when he became Director of Benslow Rural Music School, he soon transferred the venue for their annual operatic production to the QMT and it has remained there since.
David had many other interests. He served on the Arts Council for a number of years and he was outspoken with constructive views on community affairs of Hitchin.
Our condolences go to Monica and all his family.
