National Blood Service

Billy Blood Drop With the uncertainty of the future of the Hitchin Town Hall, the National Blood Service approached us for the QMT to become a regular venue for donation sessions. The Executive Committee enthusiastically supported the request and we investigated some suitable dates amongst our busy schedule.

There will be two types of sessions, ‘earlies’ and ‘lates’. The first type starts with the Service coming in at 08.15 a.m. and leaving by 19.30. The ‘lates’ will start at 11.00 a.m. and clear by 21.00. We have booked in a dozen sessions for this year. All the dates have been cleared by the producers etc. that would be affected, and have met mass support for the venture.

Because of the early start times, it will be very important that users of the theatre the previous evening clear up everything before they leave. This will include scripts, cups, glasses, props, furniture and anything else used on rehearsals. Also returning the bar and foyer to a reasonable condition. This way the cleaning can be completed very rapidly in the morning. We want to present our best image to the public, many of whom may be visiting for the first time and are all potential customers for our shows!

Dates can be seen on the year planner in the front of the theatre and will appear on the Blood Service’s website at www.blood.co.uk. It also shows the actual session times.

Please give us you total support for this worthwhile new venture for theatre and, if you are not currently a donor, now is the ideal opportunity to join the ever increasing band that find out this is one of the best and easiest things you can do to give something back to the community. PS from Paula Downes: Can I fully endorse the comments Chris has made in his last paragraph - I have been a donor for many years and am really excited that I can now give blood in such familiar surroundings. To give blood, takes a short amount of time and you only do it three times a year. It is such a worthwhile process and you truly feel you have made a contribution to the community.
