Back stage blitz
As the person who is charged with trying to keep the backstage area in some sort of order, a big thank you goes to Sally Hull, Alison Hudson, Hilary Dade and Jean Ellis who did a sterling job in sorting out the rear corridor shelving where we store curtains, cushions, fabrics and the like. It was a proper mess and they sorted it out, junked a lot and boxed the rest. So now it's in good shape and I would ask everyone who takes something from it to return it where it came from or bin it but NOT just chuck it on the shelves for someone else to sort out. It was a pretty formidable job, believe me, and it took quite a time as well. Well done girls!
Another old friend departs
When the theatre was built we didn't enjoy the magnificent workshop facility that we now have and which is admired by everyone who visits it. A sturdy bench in the wings was where everything was made and stored until required. Looking back now, I can't imagine how it could possibly be enough for some of the sets that were made, but it was all we had. In 1994 after the workshop was built it became just another space to put things on. Occasionally it was used a props table but increasingly not so as it became more and more cluttered. It's now been removed to make more wing space so farewell old friend; you certainly earned your keep.
