Under New Management
For better or worse, I have agreed to take over the task of organising the Front of House Manager's rota, which Mike Everitt relinquishes the post on 20 June 2007, i.e. the Annual General Meeting. Mike will continue to organise the rota for Stewards and the Coffee Bar Helpers.
I am sure you would all like to say a big thank you to Mike for carrying out this task for the past years. It is not an easy one and already I am beginning to wonder why I volunteered for it!
Now comes the plea (which did appear to fall on deaf ears last month, when we quite accurately threatened the closure of the Bar) - the theatre does have a very loyal but very small band of Front of House Managers and I am desperate to increase the numbers. Whilst having no Bar open is pretty drastic, having no Front of House Manager is even worse - no Manager, no Show. It is as simple as that. The theatre is becoming increasingly busy with productions, which is great for the Society, and therefore great for its members. But all of you must put something back in and not leave it to an incredibly small band of people, that seem to do everything. I thoroughly enjoy being House Manager. Yes, it is a responsible position but at the end of the day, it is not exactly hard work. Full training will be given (by me, which could of course put people off!) and a full set of notes will also be supplied.
