From the Chairman
Is it just me of is this year flying by? We’ve got Easter just around the corner and I’m still recovering from the over-indulgence of Christmas!
Anyway. with this in mind, it does mean that we only have a few more shows left within this season for you all to enjoy. In fact between now and summer we only have 3 Bancroft Players productions to enjoy; The Killing of Sister George, Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Little Shop of Horrors - but I’m pleased to say that we do have other productions from visiting companies as well as the wonderful One Act Play Festival (which I hope will be a regular feature in the season). All of these productions are already creating a “buzz” around the theatre, so I would advise on booking your tickets soon to avoid any disappointment.
Looking back over the last month we have had a couple of excellent shows that proved very popular; Private Lives by Diana Linnett was a wonderful crowd pleaser and I know I mentioned it briefly in my last letter, but at that point I still hadn’t actually seen it. The entire evening was most enjoyable. From the mini-concert in the bar before hand right through to the performances on the stage – well done to everyone involved. Another triumph was presented by our own Big Spirit in the guise of Oedipus and Antigone under the masterful direction of Rob McCafferty with choreography by Katie “Wench” Rallison. I thoroughly enjoyed it – it was very powerful and staged in a very imaginative way. We definitely have some rising stars in this group, that I’m sure given the right guidance will go on to very successful careers in the business known as “show”.
If you have plans to go away this Easter-time, please have a wonderful break and I hope you see you at the theatre again very soon.
P.S. book those tickets!!
