First Aid Course

Watch Out 'Casualty', Here We Come!

Finally after a long gestation period and several false starts along the way, the Bancroft Players First Aid Course took place on Saturday, 10 February. Thirteen rather nervous BP members turned up for a day of intense instruction. And what a great day it was. I am sure all those present will agree it was an extremely worthwhile exercise and we learnt a great deal. Just hope we can remember it all. What helped made it so enjoyable was that we all knew each and had some great laughs as well.

Our thanks for Charles Platt for organising the event and our sincere thanks and appreciation to the great Lee who conducted proceedings. His approach to training was fantastic - he was amusing, extremely knowledgeable and the day was peppered with many anecdotes of his life as a paramedic, which all helped the information sink in.

Several of us then dashed home to change and were back again in the evening for the Thespians' show "Marching from the Savoy". I am just glad that no one came over "all peculiar" that evening as they would have been swamped by four very enthusiastic "First Aiders" itching to try out their new found skills!

Hopefully another course might be held later in the year for those how could not make this one.

PS: Apologies to Charles and Lee for the reference to "Casualty" - they spent much of the Course citing this show as to how NOT to do things!
