Youth Theatre Corner

Welcome to the merry month of March.

Rob McCafferty is busy putting the finishing touches to OEDIPUS & ANTIGONE which runs from 15th to 17th March. I’ve seen some of the rehearsals and can report it looks excellent and will be well worth the price of admission. There really are some fantastic performers in the group at the moment and this might a last chance to see them before they move on at the end of the year: Amy Bellwood, Peter Hobday, Ellie Massie, Alex Rowe and Callum Scott.

NEW BOY went down a storm in London, by the way. A producer expressed interest in taking the production on to a bigger venue and a film director(!) said it would make an excellent movie and asked if the rights were available – I put him onto the writer. The Hen & Chickens Theatre in Islington is a fab fringe venue, by the way and they seemed to like us so we’re welcome back.

The next youth project is a series of shorter plays for the younger actors so they get the chance to work in small groups and take lead roles – which believe me, is an intense way to improve performing skills. Dates to be advised.

And in another separate project I am working with Katie on a great new play called A BRIEF HISTORY OF HELEN OF TROY which will get an airing at the theatre. Its about a girl who will go to any lengths to be popular!

The great vehicle which is the Edinburgh Fringe is well underway as well so all in all, the Youth Theatre is as crazily busy and ever.
