"Private Lives" - Auditions

Due to the fact that lots of you couldn’t make it – and that I am going to be away for the next 3 weeks or so - I am planning to hold one further audition evening for “Private Lives” on Monday November 20th at 8.p.m.

Many thanks to those of you who attended the previous auditions – if you could make it again on 20th I would really appreciate it as the balance between the actors is very important in this play. Rehearsals will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, start as soon as possible after the final auditions and have a short break over Christmas. The production dates are February 19th – 24th 2007.

Set in the 1930s, this play has 3 acts. The first on a hotel balcony in France and the second and third in an apartment in Paris. It is about the relationship between Elyot and Amanda who were married to each other before and who meet each other again on honeymoon with new partners! They quickly fall back into each others arms and resume the passionate love affair that was never really over but which had been extremely stormy. Can they manage their relationship any better now that they are a little older?

Noel Coward’s original dialogue continues to delight in spite of some changes in the use of language! A recent West End production with Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan played to packed houses. This elegant and witty play has stood the test of time and tells the story of a relationship that is as real and relevant today as it was when it was written.
