From the Chairman
Well I don’t know about you but I have been thoroughly entertained over the last month. The Queen Mother Theatre has been the host to some fabulous events.
Firstly a VERY well turned out evening organised by Edith, POEMS & PINTS, and although I’m not sure exactly how many pints were actually consumed, there were certainly some excellent poems. This was the first of many of these evenings I hope and thanks to Edith for a most enjoyable evening.
In the Studio we were metaphorically “kicked in the head” by the cast of “WEST” – under the direction of Rory Reynolds this hard-hitting play saw a cast of very energetic actors take us back to the skin-headed violence of Hoxton in London’s West End. An excellent piece of theatre of the standard we are coming to expect more and more in the Studio.
Finally and most recently was the QUIZ NIGHT, with Janet in the hosting chair. Again a very well turned out evening with a great mix of people and questions, and although the team I was on didn’t win (maybe next time) it didn’t stop the evening being a fun one. These club evenings are really proving very popular with people and are a great way of getting your family and friends out for a great social event. A huge “thank you” must go to all the people who go to make these events the success they are.
These are just 3 of the things that happened at the theatre in the last month. There were plenty of other things too, and if this is the excellent type of evening we can offer in just one month, then here’s to the next 30 days!
November’s evening is one of music with the FILM STOPPERS singers doing their thing. Make sure you come along and enjoy this one on the 17th Nov.
Also in November we have Big Spirit presenting more musical fun with “Brenda Bly – Teen Detective”, so please make sure you support our ever-popular Youth Theatre.
Well, until next time – make sure you enjoy yourself as much as I will!
