From the Chairman
Well, I would like to start by saying how delighted I am to be the new Chairman of the Bancroft Players. I have been a member of the society for almost 15 years and have been in a number of productions over that time, starting with Grease in 1992 and most recently Hamlet earlier this year. I have also sat on the committee a couple of times during that time too.
As Chairman I want to be able to continue the amazing work done by Edith while she was in this post. I would like to personally thank Edith for her wonderful leadership over recent years and also for her support and guidance in the transition of roles. I am pleased to say that Edith will continue in her role as Membership Secretary; a role she has definitely made her own.
What an excellent time to be a part of the Bancroft Players - we are entering another exciting period for the society and the next couple of years will see the society grow and build on the 60 year foundation put in place by the hard work of everyone involved in the society over that time.
On the committee we have some new faces joining us as well as a welcome return to some regulars; all of whom with the existing members make up a very dynamic group of people to drive through the hard work needed for us to evolve as a modern society, theatre and local arts organisation. Couple that with all the people in the society who volunteer behind the scenes and make us so successful and we have a winning combination for the future. In the next issue of the newsletter you will be able to read all about your committee, see who they are and find out what they do.
A big round of applause should go to Mike Everitt and his team for The Boy Friend, our latest musical offering as part of the Hitchin Festival. We have a great theatrical season ahead of us starting with ART and then West in the Studio followed by the wonderful James & the Giant Peach as our Christmas show.
If you have any questions about anything in this newsletter, or in fact anything at all about the Bancroft Players and The Queen Mother Theatre please drop me an email, give me a call or write to me at the theatre – after all this is YOUR society and only by making yourselves heard can we ensure the right things happen.
