Chairman's Corner

Congratulations and thank you to Annie Wilkinson her cast and crew for a superb production of "Mother Goose's Golden Christmas". Panto can be a very difficult medium to direct, as children can be quite critical in what they enjoy. Well there was no fear of that in this production. I watched the show on the first night, along with several groups of brownies, children with their Mums and Dads, Grannies and Granddads who were all caught up in the panto spirit of the show. The audience participation was encouraged from the very beginning and we soon found ourselves wrapped up in the production, calling out, singing, fighting the giant booing the villains and cheering our heroes (and that was just the adults). We all love a panto and this one was no exception. It would be unfair of me to single out any particular performance as each cast member was excellent in their individual roles. However I would like to mention the 7 children who took the parts of village children, the undersea dragon, Bo Peep's sheep and sang and danced in the ensemble numbers - they were great. The whole cast obviously enjoyed every minute of being involved in this lovely show and so did we.

The new smoking policy came into force for the first time during "Mother Goose", and worked well.

By now you should have received the new publication of "What's On". Once again the theatre programme is full right through to July with something for everyone.

Our next major production is Hamlet directed by Nicki Pope, set in Elsinore film studios. This is "Hamlet" with a difference, so if you don't want to miss out on this experience now is the time to get your tickets.
