From the Chairman

The Christmas and the New Year celebrations have been and gone, and I trust that you all had an enjoyable holiday.

If you didnt get to see our Youth Groups production of Get Over It, then once again you missed a treat. It was classic boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy loses girl only to find another. A real teen musical with great singing and dancing. Oh! To have half their energy. How proud we should be to have such a talented group.

94 members and patrons celebrated in style The Bancroft Players 60th Birthday on the 10th December. Thanks go to Sally and Maureen for organising such a successful evening. The food was excellent, enhanced by Margaret Coxalls and Sallys wonderful pavlovas, trifles and apple tortes. It is amazing how the auditorium can be transformed with lighting and Chris Lane did us proud. Thank also to Rory, and his band of strolling players - Keith, Peter England, Becky Lee and Amy Bellwood (Youth Theatre) who took us down memory lane with snippets from plays and songs from the shows. I would also like to thank all those members who helped to decorate the auditorium and who helped to serve food etc. and last but not least the band was superb, just right for the occasion. Alas it all ended too soon but an evening to remember. (More appreciations within!)

A great evening was had by all those who attended Charles Plesters Bumper Christmas Quiz Night on 21st December. 40 members and friends attended and as usual the competition was fierce with the tension being slightly relieved by the circulation of sausage rolls, mince pies and mulled wine. After several glasses of mulled wine the tension went out the window but the competitiveness grew. Many thanks to Charles for a really good quiz and Michael for the food. What a successful start to our Christmas enjoyment.

Dont forget this months auditions for Misery on 17th and 19th January. On the social side the Wednesday Quiz evenings start again on 11th January 8.15pm.

So all that is left for me to do is to wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful 2006.
